CVX prefab?

i'm getting a 2ohm CVX single 12" prefab (loaded box from kicker...12" sub AND the ported box) from a buddy for VERY cheap. (he runs a local store and this was in his daily for less than a month)

i've got an mtx 801d sitting here in the box that i'm going to toss at it....

any idea what it might be able to do in a hatch vehicle (honda fit)

and...anyone have an opinion on these prefab's from kicker? it's costing me $100 so...i can't argue on the price, haha

I assume you are talking about the boxes... spend the extra $20-$30 and make a nice ported enclosure for the CVX. The kicker prefab boxes are tuned high (IIRC) and usually don't have enough port area.

i couldn't build one for an extra $20-30...a sheet of mdf is $25 itself.

this is just a temp setup anyways...and i was just wondering how they do for an off the shelf item.

I have a 1.5 sealed box that is custom fit for my trunk in a Focus ST and it only cost me 40 bucks. I think you could do better than that. This is just for 1 correct? I know ported cost more, but seems a little high to me.

Sealed for a Cvx: 1.5 cubes

Ported for a Cvx: 2.25 Cubes 35 Hz

Do not use prefab

Buy it, keep the sub, trash the box, build a new box for it. You will be glad you did it.

They way you have it written here sounds like you are calling a sub a prefab and no where does it say you are getting both for 100 bucks. Sounds like you were paying a 100 bucks for the box itself.

If it is that price for both, then that is a killer deal, however I don't like the sound of the Kicker prefab boxes. I am sure it will get you by till you can afford to buy a new box or build one. Good luck!

There is no way for anyone to make an educated guess on this..

if someone has previous expierence with it...of course they could make an educated guess

and, YES it matters...if it didn't, i'd hardly make the effort to ask

I am not sure, but it is doubtful that anybody has measured the CVX in the pre-fab box. You might want to shoot Kicker an e-mail... they could probably give you the best answer/guess.

Post up a review/pics/vid when you get it all hooked up. I am ordering one sometime in the next couple of weeks.
