CVT versus CWR

I had a Kicker RW10CVT10. I had a Alpine MRP-M450 pushing the Subwoofer. The kicker is 400 RMS, and the Alpine at 2 Ohm is 400 watt. But, I had the gain probably around 60% of the way turned up. Twice, this kicker screwed up on me. One time it busted after having it 4 mons. I got the same replacement only to have this one have a coil that went bad. Now, that one is not being sold anymore, so I had to get reimbursed the original price and pay the extra for the new one. The new one is Kicker 43CWR104, which was about a 60% more expensive then the prior CVT. The watts, peak and RMS are the same, but one is 2 ohm, the other 4. It worries me that the CVT did that twice. I am thinking it cannot take the hard kick of mono class D alpine amp without busting or coil going bad. The question is if anyone can help, will the new one be much more reliable then the other one. Here is a link to both. If you know your kickers well, let me know
