4 12" rockford fosgate HX2 subs and 2 800.2 old school fosgate amp. i had (2) 2 12" seal in a 15 H x 15 L x 30 W box (common box) and decided to upgrade to a port box. i know port require more volume than seal. i build 2 12" box measuring 17 H x 15 D 32 W ported 1". wood thickness .75" it's the biggest i could go. box volume (Ft3) = 1.62 tuned frequency (FB)= 36 hz according to the manual the mininum allow for port box is Vb (min.) 1.50 cu. ft. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ now my problem here is i was told 2 12" ported would sound ALMOST like 4 12" seal. and honestly it's loud okay but it's no where NEAR as loud as my 4 12" is my box too small? also my port box is just a SLOT. not an L shape could this be the reason? each sub will be punching a lil over 400 watts each out of my 800.2 ... will a 1.62 ft3 box be big enough for that much power? it kinda sound distorted when i go really loud
