Who has been negotiating for us??? They're doing a crap job.
I think it's one of those things that just gets paid at asking price (like the $15 dollar muffin thing a few years back)...not like politicians are spending their own money on it

And just so I'm not accused of repeating a lie again...

I know it's a hard maga source...

Dude, the best is like the $10,000 bolt nuts for the F 35 or whatever the number was. Cost $10,000 for nut. Ha ha that's what she said.

Typical gov't negotiating - over pay when we're paying and give everything away when should be getting paid.

I think Trump is wondering why we guarantee a country's independence and naval defense of a canal we built and a country that wouldn't exist if not for the US stepping in. In return we got nothing. Basically, Panama gets the benefits of being a US territory without the cost.
We had ownership of the canal for 85 years, and now we move 40% of our shipping container traffic through that canal.
We got "nothing"?

So let's stop offering any military strength and move all those containers by another method, then.

Or maybe recognize that the money we spent to FINISH the project back in 1914 was a good investment that we still benefit greatly from today.
And again, we have a trade surplus of $11.5 billion a year with Panama.

So we hate our trade deficit with China, and are also unhappy about our trade surplus with Panama.
And we want to buy Greenland.
And import tariffs get paid by a foreign manufacturer.
And import tariffs get paid by a foreign manufacturer.
And we want to eliminate the FDI FDIC so that when a major bank collapses everybody who has their money in there is fucked.

Like I said, the guy can't be any more ridiculous than he is. But I'm sure he's working on it and we'll figure out a way.

Oh I don't know. If we take it back as you said then we can make improvements to the canal. We could make it more safe and efficient. I am curious though why you think ideas to improve America are a bad thing? I hear a lot of negative bullshit come from you but nothing constructive. Why is that? Is it because you are a whiny gash or that you just need something to cry about? Did you just see that Trump had an idea, read some talking points from Rachel the man Maddow and started complaining or have you opened your mind up, looked at the idea from all perspectives, and still came to the conclusion that "Orange man bad"?
"Take it back"? It's is not OURS to "take back".

"Taking it back" would be the US overthrowing a country that was never a territory of the US to begin with.
I'm assuming you know that Panama was never an American territory. Right?

If you think that "improving America" is to overthrow another country with our power and then assume control of it as a territory, you're more confused than Trump.
We're not a Communist regime. Never were.

Oh, and yes "orange man bad" if he wants the US to overthrow a country in Central America.
Orange man VERY bad.

Do you ever listen to yourself talk? I mean listen to how deranged you sound sometimes? You used the term take it back first. I used your term and even said "as you said"... so calm the **** down. How would we acquire the Panama Canal? Do you really think Trump is a crazy dictator looking to take over the world or perhaps he and others are looking at ways to better the United States deals that we have been getting the shaft on. Turn off CNN and MSNBC and for ***** sake start thinking for yourself. You sound like a butthurt conspiracy theorist the way you talk.

Actually Trump suggested the FDIC could be eliminated and become a function of the Treasury department. So if there was a bank collapse the difference is what department would cut the insurance checks. Furthermore, since the Treasury props up/bails out the banks, I think it makes great sense for them to be the insurer as they are already playing the part of insuring the banks.

If the US shipping is 40% of Panama Canal traffic, then we built and defend a canal that benefits the rest of the world more than US and you seem to think that's a good deal. Wow. I guess that must be the same attitude Carter had when he negotiated the shyt deal to give away the Panama Canal.

Coming to a city near you:

"Nov 19 (Reuters) - A U.S. congressional commission on Tuesday proposed a Manhattan Project-style initiative to fund the development of AI systems that will be as smart or smarter than humans, amid intensifying competition with China over advanced technologies."
