The mandatory sentencing took away a good judge's ability to impose an appropriate sentence. Then add in all the sentencing alternatives that even further reduce a sentence...it's all just a joke

Most states have sentencing alternatives for s offenses too. Reducing the time actually locked up by up to half the sentence
