curious... odd situation

ok. my friend has 2 12" audiobahns... we mounted them inverted.. we switched the polarity of them (+to- and -to+) and so on.... no sound at all!?..... then we wired one up with its normal polarity +to+ and -to-...... and the other with +to- and -to+... then BOOOOMM... minor earthquake...

why did it only sound goodwith one sub wired with switchd polarity and the other not, the are both mounted inverted in a 2 chamber sealed box.

Wether there inverted or not, they both must be wired the same way. Wire each woofers voice coils together in series and hook them up to the amp in parralell. If they are dual 4 ohm woofers your amp will see a 4 ohm mono load. If you don't wire them the same way they won't work together, and they will be out of phase.

thatswhats weird..... when inverted wired the same way.. you dont hear much, but when one is wired differently from the other they hit hard as hell.... WHY????

leave the subs wired together like they would be if not inverted...in fact get it all working that way, then just flip the two wires going into the amps output.

agreed....that would be the easiest way to do it....

think about it. u wire 2 subs up in the same way, they both bump together, they both move in at the same time, they both move out at the same time. when u wire one of them backwards, it reverses when then sub hits to exactly 180 degrees when compared to the other sub. so, u reverse the wiring on one of the subs, and now sub one moves in when the other one moves out, so the subs technically aren't moving any air. the air inside the box stays exactly the same, except for maybe moving around a bit, but the subs aren't compressing or expanding the air like they should be. hence, not much sound. or at least i hope i'm right on that

thats whats weird!..... only ones has the wires flipped and hits perfectly hard.. it rocks!.... but once both are wired the same, nuthin it ets quiet!?

maybe u wired it wrong on the amp...
