Cubic Feet ?

I looked on kicker.com and they said min box cubic ft is 1.75 and max is 3.25. Wut size should my box be. It is a 06 12" L7. Do they like smaller or bigger boxes?

bigger. is this box ported or sealed? i would make a box like 4 cubes tuned to 32hz for it.

ported and in another post ppl said dont go below 35. I want mostly spl and some sq enough sq to sound ok

well the higher you tune the louder you get at the cost of sq. i like 32 hz because it can still get very loud but it will sound better.

i have my L7 in 2.3 cubes tuned to 30 hz... totally destroys the low's ... but its not really as loud as i wanted it to be, so if i had the chance i would definity make the box bigger around 3.5 cubes and tune it way higher like 35-40 hz

its wierd on songs like "north north" by project pat i dont get much bass in that song i assume because its higher prolly around 60hz and higher but on songs like "late nite tip" its game over on the low's

Not a completely true statement. You peak out at a higher frequency, and you lose some of the low end response. In a typical application though, you won't notice a big difference in SQ from 32Hz tuning to 35. One thing you have to remember is that there's not really a lot of music with sub 30Hz notes.

With that said, I do like a low tuning, I like my peak to be lower so that the mids and highs have their chance to shine a little bit....but a box tuned to 35Hz (though SQ is subjective) doesn't sound bad, and IMO kickers sound better there than tuned lower.

As for box size, 4 cubes is a bit much for a 12" L7.

Also, to the man who suggested he go with something other than kicker...why even waste a post in a thread with that garbage. He purchased his driver and is looking for information to make it perform...if your'e going to post, help the man. Kangaroo is delicious. Had some at a place call Shenanigans (spelling) in Darwin, Australia. Also had some croc skewers. Yummy.
