Is anyone familiar with Cryptology? Im thinking about going into Cryptology as my field of interest for college, and get with the NSA or somehting. Does anyone know any job opportunities with Cryptology?? Also what type of field of study would u need for college?

Yeah and i just realized i spelt it wrong in the title lol. Oh well.... Yea i know its alot of math... just something that has caught my attention ever since reading Digital Fortess by Dan Brown.

Hopefully i'll be able to find some more about it... maybe someone on here is a cryptologher(sp?) or knows someone who is

Well, Dan Brown is a bumbling idiot. Don't let him inspire you, it's bad enough he's already got a few hours of your life you can't have back. Read the Military Cryptanalytics series if you want to see what it's really like.

I took a half-semester course in crytography my freshman year (one of the "semester spotlight" type things)....and uhhh...you will certainly lose your mind. I would not recommened it at all unless you have an unbridled passion for it and love math and crazy formulas. I don't even want to imagine how ungodly painful cryptanalysis is.

Can u usually find the Military Cryptanalytic's series in like a borders? Do you happen to know who wrties it? Hit me up on Aim..... if u can.... I'd like to hear you view of it, since u took a course.

Anyone else take a course or know about it?

Don't do it, try a contacting a contracing company such as MANTECH or ILEX, Booze Allen Hamilton, to name a few, see what they look for. I took some of that at AIT for my MOS. It *****, just a bunch of formulas, I don't remember too many of them, but if you are going to try to get a job at NSA, you should find out more specific what they want, the military and government only focus on a certain part, plus they send all there analysts to courses, master analysis and stuff, some of those courses don't even exist anymore so Ive heard. Yeah but do some research on what NSA actually wants before you just jump into the courses you think you need, you might not need to take any courses on your own. check first, hope that helps

Peace

NSA, CIA even the AIA down in Texas. Lots of companies down near the Old Kelly Air Force Base that contract out to the military. There is a command in FL that specialises in this field but I can't remember the name. CSA? CCA? SCA? I forget..

Let the Air Force train you then go work for a private company..
