Are you looking LCD or Plasma?

Plasma's do generate a lot of heat...as LCD prices fall, I'd look more into them.

I am saving $20 every two weeks to buy me a new one.

Not really sure. Plasmas seem to run more then LCD's so I may look into an LCD.

I love my plasma, though it does get warm in the room when it's on.

They consume a lot more enrgy too, but I still love mine.

Gives a fluid picture no matter what is used imo. You can't see the individual pixels as easily as LCD, especially when close.

Outside of picture quality though LCD has many more pros making it attractive used more by MFGs now.

Life expectancy (to some it is an issue, but for me, I will be upgrading before the gas stops burning)

I hate when people claim the burn-in though. that has been healed for the most part unless you are an asshat.
