that is the problem. The icon to switch to the desktop is missing. How do I find it to add to the quick launch?

You have to remake it.

To re-create the Show Desktop icon on the Quick Launch toolbar

Click Start , click Run, type notepad, and then click OK.

In Notepad, type the following text on individual lines:

[shell]

Command=2

IconFile=explorer.exe,3

[Taskbar]

Command=ToggleDesktop

On the File menu, click Save As, and then save the file to your desktop as Show Desktop.scf.

METHOD;

Right-click taskbar

Un check,- lock the taskbar

Use the mouse to drag the Show Desktop.scf icon to the Quick Launch toolbar .

Right click task bar,

click lock the taskbar

i figured it out, or why they disappear. It's because they are running programs and clicking show desktop minimizes all running programs. At least I have a quick button to press to get me out of trouble.

Oh, well duh. That makes sense.

I use Alt Tab when I'm in a bind, not the desktop shortcut.

I have never bought one and owned 4 different lowered cars and never really noticed much difference in tie wear as long as I aligned it after the drop.
Then again I always used cheaper tires (ie: Nankang) and usually don't go more than 20k or so on a set of rims.
