sheesh, no way I'm going to read all the pages I've missed.
Our internet was turned on for a night and then stopped working the next day. I think we're going to go with At&t for our internet connection, cox just lost our business. don't want to go into the details really but they are morons.

but your "Company" doesn't really complete layoffs, my CEO and CFO will be lucky to make it through the next quarter. I've got a 5:30 am call monday on headcount cuts and budget freezes...

let's just say we'll be focusing on "leaning" the process... jet engines is solid, they're one of our biggest clients within our corp biz... Healthcare, Consumer & Industiral, Security, and Comm Fin not so good right now.

I think that Immelt's a good leader, it's just hard to grow our business in so many sectors. The positive NPV projects at our size are very few so we tend to overpay on aquisitions and undervalue on dispositions.

Hopefully next quarter will be smoother!

Is it worth it working for large Co like that? You have opportunity to climb the ladder, but also risk the layoffs. My for instance, will never make more than $100k in today's dollars, even if I landed the top spot. Of course, I do have the ability to BS on ca.com for 4 hours a day.

it's definately got it's upps and downs. I work crazy hours during some periods of the year (Quarter/Month end close and holidays). But where else am I going to own a $100MM P&L and $250MM Balance sheet at 25?

We always feel overworked and underpaid but in 5 years everything should be fine. I think it would be good experience for you to work in the private industry if only for 3-5 years just to get a feel for it. I've told you before you'd be a great candidate for that Lockheed finance program.

You might look at the JNJ FLDP programs as they are top notch as well... Might be a good thing to get out of your industry to get some breadth.. Probably as a MSE or MAE (Arts or Science depending upon the school) you could be 60ish to start but good upside after 2-3 years.
