Do any of you guys know anything about gas furnaces?

I spent a hour trying to light the one in my gf's apartment, but the pilot light will not stay lit. As soon as you let the control knob out so you can turn it to the 'on' position the flame goes out. I am thinking there is something wrong with the thermocoupling sensor, in the past I just manually let the pilot run for 5-10 minutes until it got warm then it would stay on.

Yeah, if you let the thermocouple heat up and it still won't stay lit than that TC is probably not working, hop to lowes or HD and grab a new one.
