The only answer really to any of this piss contest is not "he said, she said crap" I remember a while ago when I was just starting to collect subs and play with them for my own personal satisfaction, the oilfield was booming HUGE and I was raking in more money than what I knew to do with. I was told the 99Z would take 5k+ daily in a musical application... I believed it and bought one and played with it... Well.... in my experimental install with this sub... NO WAY does it take that. I even called DD and asked and they said its not meant for music and id be lucky to get below 40 hz of music with it. And thats why they recommended not tuning it below 45 hz. (old version 99z) But yet other people have had great luck with high power and that sub, I didnt... I ended up breaking it and selling it... What im getting at is people, your just going to have to buy the driver and test it out for yourself.... it might work perfectly in your application.. it might not... I am very hard on things, I break shit.... Hell I broke the 99Z with 4K... LOL.... But I am VERY VERY hard on my HW and it has not failed yet, I have tried clipping it and 220 wall socket, 20 hz cycles in SPL boxes.... and I have bottomed mine out, it has a messed up coil, but it still pounds. And I have a 5750.1 @ .8 ohms with 15 volts and a few extra batts going to it. I am in the process of getting a LVL 5 and seeing how it holds up, I was also told by a proud member of DC, not going to name names, that the LVL 5 will not take that kind of power daily, but it is one hell of a burp machine. But just cause they said this, doesnt mean im not going to try it, and it doesnt mean it wont hold up. And trust me, when I get the LVL 5... its gonna get thrown to everything from wall sockets to 20hz burps.... everything... im going to try and break it... just like I do with everything.
