Yeah I have the same question...my computer came with CD and DVD burners. I would like to download music videos and put them into a CD so I can play them in my car at night...What do I need in order to do this?

I use a fairly large array of software for DVD stuff, but for a generic backup copy of my purchased DVD's (you gotta have a way to back up when you have a kid who likes to play with CD's/DVD's), DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are by far the most heavily used. For going to video CD TMPGenc and VCDeasy are good stuff (that can do much more than just VCDs).

I keep my eye out for other stuff all the time though and happily pay for it if it's good. I bought DVDx copy Platinum before I realized it adds a disclaimer to your video on every copy so I stopped using it even before they got shut down by the courts.

Now I'm looking for some way to remove the darn license crap on some of my legally purchased WMV video files so I can convert them to MPEG and DivX. If anyone has any info on removing the license protection on WMV's, please post.

My version, which I didn't pay for (my burner came with an OEM copy and they gave me a free upgrade), doesn't have any disclaimers ... Copies the full disc or just the movie ... Extremely easy to use, works well, much faster than DVD Shrink ...
So, when you start playing a movie you don't have a screen of text warning about how copying movies is illegal and all that junk? They may have put that in their later versions as part of their defense. They had been going through big court battles for a really long time (and finally lost).

DVD Shrink is slow because of the deep analysis. If you skip that option and go straight to encoding, it's a LOT faster. But that is its claim-to-fame. The deep analysis gives you the best possible video quality on a seriously compressed copy. I truly won't use anything else for backup copies. But, you're absolutely right, it does take longer than other programs.

Nope, no screen ... If it's not on the original disc, it's not on my copies ...
wow -- nice! Would be great for those quickies of the kid's lower-quality movies. That's what I wanted when I paid $150 for the DVD Copy Platinum with Recovery bundle. I must admit, the simple 2-click backup process is a beautiful thing. Nothing else I've used comes close.
