Contrast Ratio

So my girlfriend canceled her debit card around the same we purchased a TV. Instead of them just canceling the debit card they also put a hold on her credit card. Because of this the credit card was declined and the place we ordered the TV from didn't send it...obviously. They could have told us the card was declined a before today since we ordered it on the Nov 29th and we could have gotten everything settled by now but I'll just have to get over that part. Anyway... my main problem is having to wait longer to get the TV now. I know I can get it cheaper online but I really don't want to wait another week. Best Buy has the TV I want (Samsung LN46A650) but it is a few hundred more expensive. They have another cheaper TV very similar (Samsung LN46A630) but it has one less HDMI input and 40,000:1 contrast ratio compared to the LN46A650's 50,000:1. From what I read this difference is caused by the finish on the screen. I have not gone to compare the two and I have a feeling they may not have both TVs side by side to do a comparison. My question is, will I really notice that difference in my viewing?

I won't be able to go check them out until tomorrow which is why I'm asking.

no thats dynamic contrast..

dont even pay attention to that shit.go with the other one.

the real ratio on it is probly somewhere from 2,000 to anywhere like 5,000(have no clue mabey more)

thats a real nice tv tho.

contrast ratio is the blacker the black the whiter the white on a tv

Thank you sir. So it snowed here today and evetything I had planned was cancelled. I ended up going to sears since they had both to compare. They didn't have them close enough together to really notice anything so I was just going to get the 630...they didn't have any in stock. Went to best buy...they didn't have any in stock. Called circuit city since the nearest one was 30 min away...they had both! I got a chance to see them both side by side and didn't notice anything at all. I still went with the 650. I spent a little bit more and probably didn't need to but I'm happy with the purchase //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Another quick question for future reference...is dynamic ratio pretty much like peak watts?
Even worse ...
The ONLY time you'll ever see the advertised dynamic contrast ratio is if you turn dynamic contrast management on and then alternate black and white screens in an attempt to give yourself a seizure.

Of course, in reality, if you have dynamic contrast management on, you'll lose pretty much all detail in any dark scenes, which obviously is the opposite of what you want.

Peak watts are misleading, but they don't actually have a negative impact on your experience, unlike dynamic contrast management.

Wow thanks again. Thats good to know.
