cone area vs quality?

would you guys rather have Tons of cone area from cheaper subwoofers or would u guys rather have WAY less cone area but using Excellent Woofers!?

Example 24 12" Hifonics Hifi 12s vs 4 18" Fi q's or Btls?

Both have inherit problems. With the 24 12's, you'll need spares because undoubtedly you'll cook a few so your drivers easily become "consumables". The 4 18's are less surface area right of the bat and wont move as much air, but easier to manage (less wiring, and probably not as many crispy subs). I guess its just how much you want to deal with your setup.

24 12's = ~9-10 18's worth of cone area

if they aren't garbage *** 12's and you have space, it should be easily louder

I never really investigated how much room I had....For reference though, my wall by itself exists in 24 cubic feet. Plenty. And if they're sealed, they'll take a bit more abuse and you wont have to worry about tuning them. win/win

xmax does not mean too much as far as spl goes.

Your woofs won't be moving much regardless at tuning frequency
