Cone area and power?

There's tons of variables, for example me: I have a small trunk in my Cirrus, so I had 4 type R's slammed into it, **** near no breathing room on 2.2k rms. Switch to 1 PSi reconed cascade omega, tuned 5 hz lower. The 1 moves more air, and def. hits lower, more flex on my car. Like my friends say "your last shit was loud, but this just hurts"

If you have the room for it, more cone area imo. But if you're limited/doing a trunk, the more room left the better.

^ lots of issues there such as you probley didnt have enough power for the 15" and ur boxes were sealed. did you have them facing the same way? there is alot of variables...
Im sure the fi ssd would like more power than the 870 im giving it. But im giving it more than rated.

the rockford subs were underpowered by 100 watts, only getting 400w rms...

So what if the boxes were sealed? that gives a level playing field for myself to compare them equally...

i never said, here is my story and i know everything and im right everyone else is wrong.

i was just giving my experience. I wish people would give me their experience in my threads, instead of stupid stuff like "lots of variables". Obviously thats true, but my experience can give him a general idea imho.

thanks for all the replies and suggestions guys, so in general cone area>power. I have an SUV (01 montero limited). It has decent size trunk but nowhere near the size of the bigger SUVs. Probably could fit 10 cubes at max. I just wanted to upgrade on equipment, i was hoping that one nice 18 like a nightshade or z,hdc3, xl or lvl5, bl or btl would be better than 2 lesser 15's. Guess illl have to save up for 2 15's.

that begs the question, why would anyone spend loads of money on 1-2 nice subs, while they can get a 4+ subs for that price or cheaper and have more output?

Space available, mostly. 'Nicer' subs also tend to have advantages entry level subs do not, like advanced motor topologies (BL optimization) and longer linear stroke.

I would agree that the more expensive subs will/do have more advanced designs and features, for those of u who have almost unlimited amount of space u are still have faced with the dilema 8 15" kicker cvr's(cone area) or 2 18" lvl 5's(power), just an example. For the people with limited space the choice is easy, just go for power in a single/dual sub setup.
