Computer Tutoring.. thinking of doing it for side money

This is something a couple buddies/co-workers were thinking about doing to make a few extra bucks on the side in spare time. We are all pretty familiar with most aspects of a computer, and deal with idiots all day that dont have a clue about them. So we figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to do some basic tutoring for people to get the hang of using a PC. Our local Community College charges about $150 for a half semester class on basic PC shit.

anybody ever do this? or know someone that does it? This will NOT be for computer REPAIR, just tutoring. teaching the basic use of a computer (using some programs: Office, IE, etc..)

I was thinking about $20 per hour, that wouldn't be too bad to start off with

I would make up business cards and possibly flyers and post it in a local newspaper

good idea until the person you are tutoring realizes there are tons of computer programs that will walk you step by step through alot of functions of the PC. just saw the infomercial for some.

people are also pinching pennies these days. might not get many people wanting to spend extra cash. but again like said above it wont cost much to make some flyers or post an ad somewhere. worst that can happen is no one calls.

On the side I've been doing PC Repair, Virus removal and crash restoration. Anyone with half a brain can do this stuff, especially since most modern PCs have a full restore partition on their hard drive. Instead, people have been paying me to do it for them. I see success in your idea and business. Promote it well, and you'll do fine.
