computer to TV?

Ok i just got a new LCD tv in my room and I only torrent movies since its fast and cheap. My comp doesnt have HDMI so I used the DVI to HDMI hookup, although it transfers video, it doesn't transfer sound.

How would i transfer sound form the laptop to the TV?

idk about yours, but my tv doesn't have a 3.5mm input jack, just the regular red/white RCA jack. In which case you would just need a 3.5mm to RCA cable or if your tv has an optic input (and your computer has an optic output) that's the best option.

upgrade your sound/video card to an hdmi output from ur pc. They arent very much and WELL worth it.

I have this pc hooked up to my 46" sony bravia via hdmi and as well as my ps3 and 360

Yeah, 'cause laptops are SOOO easy to upgrade...

OP : What chipset do you have? SOME chipsets allow audio over DVI to HDMI. (Just like my 9800GT).

Are you using an HDMI cable with an HDMI to DVI converter on one end or is it a straight up DVI to HDMI cable?

I just did this on my laptop for my new TV as well. Picked up a 12ft HDMI cable from Monoprice for $10 shipped and I couldnt get sound output through HDMI at first. I had to go into my laptops control panel to set it up since Ive never used HDMI.

I wasnt sure either. Some laptops can be upgraded. Most cant
