Everytime i boot up and get to my desktop i have to wait at least 10 minutes to actually be able to get online.. Everything takes forever to load and i cant figure out why.. Is there someplace i can check to see what is actually running upon startup, or something else i can do to try to make it run a lil quicker... ??? And if i do try to open my browser it will just freeze on me.. I dont have or download any **** so no that s not whats wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and do have Spybot, adaware and another program i run to.. any advice is better than where im sitting w this right now, thanks

Maybe your Virus scanning program .. Norton and McAfee take forever to load .. i use AVG .. my total boot time from ram check to desktop is about 1 to 2 mins .. You could check your registry to see what programs are starting at bootup .. a good program to use is Tune Up Utilities ... it has a lot of tweakable things

All though what Mike said is correct, unless you just have a real old school computer even with all of your apps it shouldn't take 10 minutes unless you are exaggerating. My parents computer is an old 700mhz computer and even with all the tools they have being loaded it doesn't take that long.

Thanks guys.. yea i dunno what is up.. i disabled pretty much everything, im gonna restart and see what happenes.. A bunch of stuff I dont even know what half the startup stuff is so.. idk.. I have pccillin net security , A lil off topic but im getting kaspersky internet security so I already know how bad pc cillin sux //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .. I dunno if i just need to do a system restore or what , but its so **** slow i dunno what else to do.. and my downloads are lagging too... they used to be around 2-300 kbps now its like 50-60 .. I do scans ( virus malware spyware avg anti root etc ) every 2 days but all it ever finds is tracking cookies , nothing big , ever...

Downloading to much **** them spywares will get you every time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Have you ever defrag'd your hd? Get a program send your windows startup files to the end of the HD so they are read first, found easily and your computer boots alot faster.

Also what Mike said is good advice, do what he said first.

We need computer specs ... but it shouldn't take 10 minutes. If you press Ctrl+Alt+Del, it'll bring up the task manager which will show you the background processes running. Ideally, you should have around 20 (or less), less than 40 is acceptable, but if you have more than 40, odds are you have a lot of junk running that doesn't need to.
CPU:

RAM:

Hard Drive:

Free Space:

Anti-Virus:

List of Background processes:
Well i have a HP dv9000 laptop .. about 6 mths old

Core 2 5500 ( i believe )

2 gb ram

160 gb HD

using pc cillin net security, super anti spy, spybot, an ad aware

In the task manager it says 72 processes with a cpu usage of about 10% sometimes up to 50 depending on what im running
