Ive got a 350watt computer power supply and 2 80mm fans laying around that I want to use. I would like to Use the fans to put on the back of an enclosure fore cooling(home theatre). My question is Could I use just the power supply and fans to do this, and if not, how could I hok up the fans.

The fans are 4 pin connectors.

the power supply:

20-pin Main Power X1

4-pin ATX12V X1

4-pin

4-pin Molex X7

4-pin 3.5" FDD X2

Jump pins 14/15 with a jumper wire, and connect away. Jumping the 2 pins will turn the power supply on.

Yes, the motherboard in a computer uses a logic circuit to turn on the power supply, but without one, you are just taking a wire and telling the psu to turn itself on. Or you can connect a toggle switch between the two wires and use that to turn it on and off. Also make sure you look at the picture carefully. Pins 14/15 are on the side with the little nipple on it.

alright, and im doing this on the 20 pin connector of the power supply correct?

Yes put I would actually put a switch between them so you can turn it off when not using them or get even fancier and use a relay that is triggered when audio signals are present. You don't want a 350 watt PSU just running all the time and the 80mm fans. Put a simple switch connected to these 2 wires and trn on at will.

Have fun ***.

i think you should shut the fvck up and not worry about it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

and I think you should stfu and not do it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

plus, wtf would you want to use a 350watt computer psu, when the fans will draw less than 500mA total?

Because it is still cheaper than getting the proper transformer since he already has it and istn using it.

You are still a *** and he has a point. Maybe YOU shouldn't be doing this.

For everyone else with more than one brain cell, it is ok.
