Nothing was hooked up wrong, all the standoffs were in place. Judging by the magic smoke's source, I think it was the old school legacy game/MIDI controller. Neither of which are a use to me, but still. Last place my fingers were near was the front panel plugs to the right.With you on it's usually the exception and not the rule. I just thought that telling a user to just open their case, with shitty OEM components and not taking a small precaution could end badly. Not an attack on any advice, just a thought.</blockquote>
