My car has a 5.25 in the door. Recommend a good budget comp $100 max. Will be off hu for now. Maybe amp later depending on how happy I am with the outcome.

I wouldn't waste money on cheap comps ...you ought to buy my high end PPIs you'll never regret them....a little more monies for something thats worth keeping....

I keep hearing about cadence for budget comps. Are these any good?

I recommend waiting another paycheck or two in order to buy some better speakers.

I'd rather unhook a blown/rattling speaker than replace it with garbage. And yes, a $100 set of components will be junk.

The money is there just not gonna put a lot of money into it. Truthfully the factory speakers sound fine to me, but they are on a factory amp and there's no way to put them on an aftermarket hu. I'm completely fine with the sound of the wal mart pioneer 2 ways so I'm not looking for something to blow me away. I know there are some in this price range or slightly higher that will suit me just fine. I just need something 4 ohm that will sound good. 2-ways would work but they are low in the door. That's why I was thinking comps so that I could bring the highs more up towards me.

I'm not necessarily stuck to the $100 limit. I just used that cause every post I see with someone mentioning a budget, people always recommend stuff that costs more. So I figured if I said a lower number, people would suggest what I am looking for.

If stock speakers sound fine to you, then i agree, 100$ components will be fine.

The masses like infinity speakers just fine... reference series are around 100$, but are two ohm i believe.

Hell, to be honest dude, im sure you could even save yourself another 10-20$ and get one of these:

Diamond Audio D151 5 1/4" D1 Series Component Speakers System

or

DLS Performance K K5 2-Way 5-1/4" 5.25 Component Speaker System

I think either of those would serve your needs just fine, and sound great for you.
