competition head unit

im wondering what i should look for in a competition head unit?

i was thinking of going with mcintosh, nakamichi, or if i can find it the clarion drx9255, people say thats the best sounding cd player made..

i m pretty sure the high end ones would do well (ie: nakamichi).

Im going to have to agree with this one. A lot of people will say that this deck is hands down the best deck ever made. Sony ES was such an awesome line... too bad they shut it down for junk (xplod)

what makes it such a good deck?

i heard the clarion drx9255 was the best ever made, cause it had the mcintosh internals, and then clarion added some stuff.. ill see if i can get some specs on it

on a list of about top 10 decks around in no order:

1) Alpine F1

2) Pioneer dex p9 combo

3) pioneer p1r

4) Eclipse 8053 i think is the #

5) Denon Z1

6) Sony Cdx C90

7) Mcintosh high end

8) Alpine 7998

9) Nak high end

10) Clarion 9255

like i said those are my personal fav's and one's i've either owned or worked directly with. personally i love my p1r and my friend who owns the c-90 wishes he had my p1r instead of his c-90. in all honesty, anything that anyone has named unless they go into new eclipse which are trash are fantastic h/u's that will cost a very pretty penny.

If I were going to shell out $1k or better on a HU, I'd definately go with the P9 combo. Incredible amount of flexibility with that unit.
