Comparing 1/0 to 4/0.

nice comparison. i use the flex-a-prene wire (as shown above but 1/0) and it's very easy to work with, and is pretty big.

a question i have though (we'll use your pic for reference...), given the orange 1/0 welding cable and the blue 1/0 Knu would there be any difference in resistance since the Knu is tinned vs the un-tinned welding cable? just curious if you loose out when using tinned wire.

EVER EVER SOLDER TWO PIECES OF 1/0 TOGETHER. SOLDER + CAR IN GENERAL IS A BAD IDEA.

I would get a fuse holder, distribution block, or a 1/0 splicer before I would solder 2 pieces together.

BUUT if you really wanted to. Propane torch and some copper pipe solder.

Anybody know of a site for fuse holders for 4/0?

4/0 welding is about 2/0 kicker wire. I found a 2/0 fuse holder that Rockford makes.

I got the rockford one for 25. It's heavy as hell so I would try and find a way to support it if you are using it up front.

you can make a fuse holder pretty easily. i never had to, but i know it's not hard. won't look "pretty" but can be done.

The tinned copper wire is supposed to oxidize less than the bare copper wire. I don't think it affects performance at all.

I think it would be so small of a resistance that you probably could not even measure the difference in the length of a car. If we were talking about the Space Shuttle or something like that, it might matter.

The tin coating is only to help with oxidation. It is required in all marine applications. There would be no difference in the resistance.

that trystar cable is the same as the coppercableman cable on ebay that the OP was talking about, same company
