or should I have made the title:... COMODO AntiVirus...IS it true? LOL! anyways...

This is a GREAT 'new' Virus and Firewall program that is FREE for life for Private Consumers.

It is about time that some of these big corporations finally got on-board and use their resourses efficiently. How, you ask? Keep reading...

Once you go to their website and download -- the FREE downloads are at the bottom middle of the page. (get the Virus Protection first, it will load a 'control panel' ...Then get the Firewall--you can get the other programs if you need them for your application.) Once you provide an e-mail you will receive 4 messages--one each for confirmation of your requests and one each for the license numbers.

Now, that you have everything loaded, and licensed...check you firewall settings. (p.s...it will probably want to update the virus def's first thing) Make sure you leave it in learn mode for a while (weeks/months) What happens is the firewall will aggressively watch all internet activity--this not only includes browsers but things like winamp, active synch, windows media, any software that tries to use the internet by itself or through a browser.

IF a program tries to access the internet for incoming/outgoing traffic, you will get a pop-up that asks/states a few things.

1)- It will tell you what is trying to access the internet and what port/program/service, etc. it is using to do so

2)- you will have the option to open details on EVERY item it looks at.

3) you will have the OPTION to submit unknown data to COMODO. This is all they ask.

I have been using it for about a month and so far it has exceeded what I expected. I put this on EVERY computer I build for people now. It is soooo much easier to use, offers more stringent protection because of its data base INCLUDES the corporate world protection as well as consumer level, and it is FREE....FREE...FREE!

(p.s....I was given this program by a large corporate I.T. person who beta tests/hacks programs for a living and tests his skills against this program--is that reference enough? )

Just IMO...but I have used Norton for 3 years...have to pay $$$$$ EVERY YEAR to continue...and because it is the best known aftermarket virus/firewall program...every hacker in the world is reverse engineering it to figure out how to get around its traps... same with windows defender. To tell you the truth I run defender and Comodo because of the updates I get from Microsoft.

Panda?.... pay every year! McAffee minimal version..free...anything that's worht a crap (is that an oxymoron?--lol!) with McAffee --yepp..more money!!! EVERY YEAR

COMODO is the BEST program I have found out there for what it does... people that think it is crap don't know how to use it. I dont know if it works for Macs tho'.

I have a LOT of faith in it because of who showed it to me and what he does for a living...

I have Norton, but it is free from my job because I take work home. It is different than home and corporate versions, but I don't have a model number.

I may check out this Comodo for extra protetion.

let me know what you think and if you have any questions... I can run it by my contact if I don't know how to help. I llike it MUCH better than Norton...and it does everything Norton does and MORE!

and did I mention...your license is FREE FREE FREE!! lol

i dont use firewalls //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

no viruses yet...mainly cause i dont downlaod much **** anymore //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

AVG, antivir, and zonealarm are supposedly still the best free spyware proggies

i've nveer tried zonealarm, tho

and there's a non-free avg now, so popups always ask if you want to upgrade.

antivir kicks ***, tho

EDIT: I would like to address this with some of my experiences...

If Mr. Abdulhayoglu can be taken at his word, the worst we can expect from Comodo Anti-Virus is a periodic nag screen hawking Comodo’s other products. Seems a minor inconvenience, if the software works as well as its press release says it does.
If you had something as Powerful as Norton (more in my opinion) and all you had to do is get an occasional ad (which I have NOT seen ONE yet) without putting out 2/3 the cost of what you originally spent on the packaged software... Isn't it worth it?

how about a MUCH larger Virus definition Database from which to protect... and the comodo launch is not nor has it ever been anything but a portal to access software services and of course the automatic updates..again..I have NOT seen any ads (...yet??...)

peace of mind in my mind!

hey Jmac... that 'TOPS' list for best Virus programs has McAffee above Norton AND Panda ... now I know it is full of crap! LOL!

j/k... but c'mon...McAffee SUCKS!!!!

I have only been using it for a month but I already like it better than any other program I have EVER used!
