or should I have made the title:... COMODO AntiVirus...IS it true? LOL! anyways...
This is a GREAT 'new' Virus and Firewall program that is FREE for life for Private Consumers.
It is about time that some of these big corporations finally got on-board and use their resourses efficiently. How, you ask? Keep reading...
Once you go to their website and download -- the FREE downloads are at the bottom middle of the page. (get the Virus Protection first, it will load a 'control panel' ...Then get the Firewall--you can get the other programs if you need them for your application.) Once you provide an e-mail you will receive 4 messages--one each for confirmation of your requests and one each for the license numbers.
Now, that you have everything loaded, and licensed...check you firewall settings. (p.s...it will probably want to update the virus def's first thing) Make sure you leave it in learn mode for a while (weeks/months) What happens is the firewall will aggressively watch all internet activity--this not only includes browsers but things like winamp, active synch, windows media, any software that tries to use the internet by itself or through a browser.
IF a program tries to access the internet for incoming/outgoing traffic, you will get a pop-up that asks/states a few things.
1)- It will tell you what is trying to access the internet and what port/program/service, etc. it is using to do so
2)- you will have the option to open details on EVERY item it looks at.
3) you will have the OPTION to submit unknown data to COMODO. This is all they ask.
I have been using it for about a month and so far it has exceeded what I expected. I put this on EVERY computer I build for people now. It is soooo much easier to use, offers more stringent protection because of its data base INCLUDES the corporate world protection as well as consumer level, and it is FREE....FREE...FREE!
(p.s....I was given this program by a large corporate I.T. person who beta tests/hacks programs for a living and tests his skills against this program--is that reference enough? )
