College graduates or current students

Definitely fill out the fafsa, there's no reason not too. Then apply for as many scholarships as you can. If you are just graduating, invite every single one of your relatvies to your grad party. Grad party+relatives=money. After that it's all savings, job, or student loans.

Apply for any grant or scholarship that is available, even if you don't REALLY meet the qualifications. Look for grants in your department, or field of study also. Schools need to distribute those funds to make sure they get more next year.

School loans are okay, but grants don't need paying back.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

And even if they don't come to the party (majority of them won't), they'll still send you a nice little card with some money in it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

Anyways....as said, fill out the FAFSA forms. Worst that'll happen is they don't award you anything. Good thing about federal and state financial aid is that it's a grant, not a loan. So you 1) don't have to repay it, and 2) get to pocket any excess $$ that they award you each semester. Apply for as many scholarships as possible, as mentioned. Try to take out as small amount of student loans as absolutely possible. And if you do take out any student loans, don't borrow anymore than you actually need for that semester.

Wait wait wait

You have a Tahoe on 22s and can't afford to goto college?

exactly. there are always small ($500) scholarships that are department specific and don't require an essay. I've heard very few people apply to some (less than 5 applicants).

As for me my tuition is so cheap i'd feel bad taking a scholarship //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Financial Aid- Pell and Tap

Perkins Loans

Stafford Loans

Private loans if you need more beyond.

Perkins loans are parents loans. I never used them, just Stafford and private Sallie Mae loans. I dont enjoy having things just handed to me so I never asked my parrents for money for College. You will appreciate it more if you do it all on your own.

Just trying to see what the general consensus is on finacial aid, FAFSA, etc...In other words I'm trying to find the best way to borrow some money for school.

I've been out of college for quite a long time now. I will say that it's super-easy to ring up a hefty loan bill. But, if you think about it, you can't beat the interest rate or the payment amount.

Do what you have to, but keep in mind that the debt will be on your shoulders when it's said and done. Don't get stupid and ring up credit cards on top of it. And, see if you can work some to lessen the amount that you need to borrow.
