Coil seperated from cone - Audiopipe 15"

Friend of mine has been running 2 of the AP15s on the ap1500 for about 2 months, solid electrical, gain set good, no bottoming out. He comes over today telling me a sub is messed up, so i take a look at it and the cone is dinged all to hell like the coil pushed up into it and im like wtf. I take it out of the box and the coil has completely seperated from the back of the cone, and had apparently beat the shit out of it because it was still playing, also had coil rub (i assume from the coil not having support anymore). What im trying to figure out is why this happened? The coil on the other sub is good to go, not rubbing or reading bad or anything. I tested the subs to see if they were bottoming out after i set the gain with a 80-15hz sweep tone and they werent bottoming on full volume so i assume that wasnt the problem. What im trying to figure out is what happened to cause this so we dont have the same problem with the other one. Input?

If the other sub was setup the same way and it's fine and nothing seem to being pushed overly hard I would chalk it up to bad manufacturing.

no warrenty they havent made a ap15 in 2yrs. now they are apx and have a 3" coil. the coil would rub when not attached to the cone, just the spiders holding, needs 2 points to align it.

i have a red recone kit if interested....
