Coaxial Question

Are coaxial speakers with built in crossover networks any good? Components are out of the question here. Just looking for for better sound than what the stock system does. Also would it be worth it to amp some coaxials?? O and this isn't going to be in my car i'm doing this for a friend.

Just like in all other aspects of car audio it depends on the speakers in question. Some are decent, some are great, and some are absolute crap.

Components are out of the question here. Just looking for for better sound than what the stock system does.

In most cases better than stock isn't terribly hard to achieve.

Also would it be worth it to amp some coaxials??

In most cases, yes. Powering a decent set of aftermarket speakers from the headunit will almost never allow you to realize the full potential of the speakers.

Just remember u'll never need more than a 2-way coaxial speaker. Don't get fooled by all those ones that come with like 5 different types of speakers or what not.

I second the above posts...

I would amp them no matter what, it will be worth in both clarity and volume.

Coaxials range from durabrand at walmart to $$$ Morel Hybrid Ovation XO.

Prolly gonna get a 4 channel amp to power some speakers in the rear. Subs are most more than likely out of the question 2 i know it sucks

5 channel amp.

The Baby Belle would be an excellent choice for that application.

Do those pg's have the crossovers? So are you suggesting a 5ch. amp just incase my friend would want to add a sub later? The car we are talking about is a 94Mazada Protogue.

Yes.

Having external crossovers does not make the coaxial inherently better.
