Hey,

This is my first post here, lurked for a while..awsome site.

So I know nothing about what size amps to match with certain size subs and stuff like that so to get me started i'm hoping you could guide me by answering this question. First of all I know most people here are into high quality stuff and expensive stuff and that's not what i am looking for, acually my budget for my first sytem is $1000 give or take a little if needed, which also means the amp will definately be used.

My Question.

If you only had a ~$1000 to spend on Subs and an amp, what would you buy?

One more question.

Ok i don't know what size alternator is in the car this will be installed in but it's a small car ( 2002 Kia Sephia), so i'm wondering how big of a system i would need before i'd have to spend money for a bigger alternator or battery.

I hope someone can guide me because it's really bugginf me trying to shop around when i don't know what to buy. Thanks in advance

There is a lot that can be done with $1000 if you're willing to install stuff yourself, or with the aid of a friend for the small fee of beer.

I would look into getting a reasonable set of comps, a sub, and a pair of amps. You won't get quite as nice of a sub/amp combo, but you'll be much happier with the overall sound result.

Personally I would go with a set of CDT comps, or something similarly priced (can find a decent set for ~$150). Then I would pick up a decent 2 channel amp (been a while since I've purchased anything, but you should be able to get something to push your comps for ~$100-175).

Now you're looking for a sub and amp. Cannot go wrong with sound splinter, ascendant, RE, etc...and all have a good 12-15" sub in the $300 area. This still leaves you with ~$350+ for a sub amp, wiring, and an enclosure. Get a design from one of the builders on here and gather with a friend or parent that has some carpentry skills and you're looking at $40 for the box, and another $50 for wiring probably. Leaving you with $250+ for an amp....easily done with a little bit of looking.

Just my $.02

Thanks guys,

but for $300 wouldn't a Kicker L7 be better than the subs u listed?

just wonderin aybe the ones you listed are better. are from EBay, is it a bad idea to buy subs from ebay?

BTW, a lot of the prices i'm going by

And when you say the alternator should be good for a 1000W is that 1000 RMS or 500 RMS..lolas you can tell i AM clueless to this stuff
