clipping?

i see all of you guys talk about it but exatly what does it sound like when reproduced by a sub? or when setting the gain with a dmm how do you know if the amp is clipping? always been confused by that

you will hear it. its a distorted sound. when setting your gain, if you hear the sound from the sub change, it's probably clipping

you need an oscilloscope for that

when you set it with a dmm, you match volts to your amps rating

yeah be careful. ive heard alot of horror stories about clipping here lately. it turned DD's into mids, disrespected a whole family, flipped a car.......crazy stuff.
