clipping light on gain remote

I was wondering how accurate the clipping light on my gain remote for my AQ1200 is?

I'v been useing the light on it because some songs clip at the max vol i play at 58 so i use the gain remote to turn down the gain. Sometimes the light also blinks for a second when the bass hits really hard but not for any of the other notes in the song too. I just dont want to fck anything up.
