Clearance of sub from base

Guys,

Because of the height limitation of my location. I was able to build a fiberglass box (sealed) that had a mounting depth of 6.5 inches. The sub is 6.18, so I have about 1/4 inch from the magnet to the base.

The magnet has a small hole on the bottom (for air I guess). Do you think I should have any problem with the clearance? My volume is .84 cubic ft which I meet the manufacturer's suggested internal.

The sub I am going to use is a Diamond Audio Mark2 10".

It's normally a good idea to leave 1-2" clearance between a vented pole & a wall. This is one of the primary ways to cool the coils. Can you put a 1/2" spacer between the driver & enclosure?

I tried with an extra 1/2 inch ring, but could not get it to fit the opening (past the opening I have a lot room). I am putting on a 350z .

I expected as much... how much wattage are you running to the driver? Are you planning on using Dacron or Polyfil?

Considering that You've already built the enclosure, I dont suppose you'd like to build another...

The absolute best thing that I can advise is to e-mail Diamond Audio. They can advise you about what that Driver will need as a minimum.

No Dacron or Polyfil? I will be driving it 600 watts (xenon 600.1). I spent over $100 and so much time on it too (over 50hours).

Well, generally small sealed's love Fill. My concern arises around the need for the motor to breathe, as it were.

That driver's rated for 800rms, yes?

I dont know that motor structure at all, i dont know how well it'll cool itself without much excursion, or in that box with a shallow mounting.

my m6s cooled just fine in a small sealed box with an inch clearance from the back wall for almost a month, i have the original and not the mk2 but i believe the motor is fairly similar. Give it a shot and just keep an eye on it, when your through playing it for some time on a decent volume give the dustcap and the surrounding cone a touch, it should be warm but not really hot. And of course dont touch the cone while its on (just had to throw that out there)

When you say the cone, you mean the top of the sub right? Couldn't imagine me taking out the sub off the box and touching it on the magnet.

Can you mount it inverted? Just an idea, not sure if it's possible in your situation.
