Dude, do yourself a favor - narrow your argument. You're trying to make broad statements that may have some validity in parts, but not in others (ie. all blonds are stupid -- not true, as only some are). Uh, no pun intended with the "broad statement". Anyway, the point is that arguments are never won with generalizations or wide-open accusations. You'll need to focus on something specific, or people will just ignore you and think you to be an idiot. It's like going before the UN and saying that they should invade Iraq because it's a bad place without even mentioning, "WMD". Even once "WMD" is mentioned, you still need to offer specific proof and evidence to back up your arguments, or you will look an even greater fool. And if that proof turns out to be wrong, apologize for the error and leave with a lesson learned. I hope you followed the analogy. In no way am I going to take your side (or zane's side), but I suggest you do some research before you argue with zane. He knows his stuff. I had to dig like heck to find the specs on the only amp I knew of with audible distortion (if you want to know the name of the amp, search the forums for a long-winded debate between zane and myself). It's very possible that you will continue to believe that amplifiers affect SQ by introducing distortion. While this is true, you will never notice the distortion introduced as a byproduct of amplification unless the amplifier is truly horribly designed (such as the amp I used in my debate w/ zane). The difference between .5% THD and .005% THD is inaudible to humans (dogs, perhaps, could hear a difference, but they lack the inteligence to recognize this difference anyway). So, in my way of viewing it, both sides are correct and wrong. Amps won't sound different to us, yet they do affect sound quality differently (albeit inaudibly). If you can't hear a difference between a $200 amp and a $20,000 amp, get the $200 amp. If you can hear the difference, you probably knew which amp was more expensive and only thought you heard a difference.
