Clarion??

So I have a Clarion DXZ785USB. The rca out, aux in, steering wheel control input harness is messed up. So I had called my local Rogers Stereo to see if they had one they could sell me and they told me that Clarion went out of biz?? The guy also added that they quit selling them. This could be why he said this? Is this a huge load of crap? Clarion's web site and phone systems work, so I dont think that this is true. I personally thing this is crap. Anyone have any insight on this?

I doubt they went out of business considering they just announced a major deal with Nokia yesterday.....

Clarion Co., Ltd., a provider of car audio and electronics since 1940, together with Nokia Corporations, a global mobile device producer, announced that they are working together on Terminal Model.

The Terminal Model is a technology that will allow a new method of mobile devices and car infotainment systems to flawlessly work side by side.

Tasuhiko Izumi, the president of Clarion, stated that by incorporating the Terminal Model technology into in-car information systems like car navigation built by Clarion, Clarion can bring the broad range of applications and services available to smartphones on in-car devices to its customers. Consumers’ user experience will be improved with the integration of in-car devices with smartphones. This integration will also lead to major changes in in-car information systems.

Thanks Dark and Rich. I didn't believe this guy. This guy is obviously dumb for sayin that. But nothing wrong with making sure right? If Clarion were to go out then something terrible would have to go horribly wrong. But Im glad that isnt the case. Anyways, Ill prolly end up spending 20 bucks on this harness.

I dont think Im in the wrong part of the forum, Sherlock. Its not like I am askin opinions on a hu, because I already have one and I like it. This was something I heard so Im asking about it. And this IS the Thunderdome, right? What I asked is random, and has nothing to do with getting reviews or asking opinions about one. I asked my question and got some good answers, but you had to say something about me posting this in the Thunderdome. But, I know Im ok posting here.

He may have been thinking of Eclipse. They no longer carry product in the North America market.

Contact United Radio. They have access to Clarion parts and you will most likely be able to order a new harness somewhere in the ballpark of $16 shipped.

Ok, sweet. Ill check it out. It costs 12 bucks + shipping from on of the distros on there site, hopefully this will be a cheaper way to get one. Thanks Whitedragon.

Theres also a guy on DIYMA that has this deck for sale with the harness, trim ring and a few other things for $75. The issue with his is that it wont play CD's or something like that. It wouldnt hurt to have a spare for parts around either.

Awesome WhiteDragon! Ill get on there and see whats up. Thanks for the info youve provided, its a big help. What would your opinion be about getting one off ebay? You think ebay would be a reliable place to get something like that, or do you think the other places is a better route to go?

Are you looking for the harness or a new HU? I looked on eBay before posting United Radio info up and didnt see any harnesses, just the HU itself for $299.

Yeah Im just looking for the harness itself. I definitely dont have that much to spend right now, thats for sure. Ill prolly have to visit the link you have sent me on here, and get from there or one of the distros Clarion has on their site. The cheapest I personally have seen it was one from the distros they had listed which is 12 something + shipping. How much it exactly is from the place you told me about I dont know yet. Sooo i dont know..
