Hi I am new here and to car audio. I am trying to learn as much about car audio as fast as possible. My question is are the Clarion XW1200 any good? I asked this question in the General discussion forum but I didnt get any replies. I tried searching myself and I could not find anything on this forum or the internet.

P.S. The Clarion XW 1200s will be hooked up to the Clarion DPX1001.2 amplifier. I also don't know anything about amps. If you could fill me in on the quality of both these products I would be greatfull.

Thanks \

Come on anyone??? should I go with a custom fab box?

heres what I have, Clarion Pro Audio DXZ845MC (its the music catcher one), Kenwood Excelon 7 in door speakers, tweeter, crossover and K. Excelon 5x7s in my rear. I am getting a good deal on their subs and amp. The subs are model #XW1200, and the amp is their DPX 1001.2. Obviously I am not trying to stay with an all Clarion setup but it is predominantly clarion. The reason I am asking about these particular subs and amp is bc I am getting them for $400.00. So the questions that I have is 1). Are these subs crap (they are proaudio, clarions higher end product) and 2). is the amp I have good, I don't have a clue if it is any good. Also I have 100sq ft of B-quiet ultimate and I have never sound deadened anything. I was told by my local music shop that I should sound deaden after I install this stuff (so I can put the deadener whereever it rattles). I was going to do my entire trunk and doors just for the outside interference reduction benefit. Any tips as to how I should do this. One more question, should I apply the b-quiet to the underside of my trunk the actual door part, if so how do I keep this from lookin ugly when I open it up (bc that shiny foil part will be showing and quite ugly).

Thanks for your help

Nas

I dont know much about those subs but are you buying the subs seperately for 400$ or does that include the price of the amp. If you are spending 400$ on a pair of subs I'd suggest looking into some other ones. you can find some pretty nice subs for $200 each.

Never heard their subs myself. Their HUs are great, I have one, and their amps are pretty good from what I hear but a little underpowered (not underrated just not enough power). As far as dynamatting, just make sure you have a heat gun or blow dryer and a roller. Clean your surfaces first then stick the mat on, heat it up then roll it. As for your trunk lid, I guess you could mat it first them stick some carpet on it with some spray adhesive.

Ok, Skeptical to answer you ? about what I am paying $400 for its for both subs AND the amp (so I think its a good deal). You reasurance that it is indeed a good deal would be comforting though.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

JMAC to your response on the sound deadening instalation. I have never installed any car audio before so this will be my first time installing two subs and a amp. I wasnt thinking and didnt realize your right I will have to pull out my seats and carpet. I was def planning on doing my doors and trunk but not my floor. I have a 2000 mustang (only a 6 so my exhaust isnt real loud).Do you think it is necessary to do the floor with my B-quiet? I have 100sq ft.

This is in response to Redford but anyone feel free to answer bc it is a general question. The B-quiet instructions that I receive today (nothign like toys coming in the mail) said that, "heating with a heat gun or hair dryer before applying is not required as long as it is applied at or above room temp, it will form a very strong bond." Should I go through the extra work with a heat gun or is the natural bond good enough? And for my trunk lid could I use felt or do you think I should go throught the trouble of finding actual carpet?

Thanks again fellas your expertise is appreciated

ok JMAC I will make sure I do all that.. Do you think it will be necessary to do my floor with the B-quiet though? keep in mind I only have 100sq ft, unless you think it is that crucial to do the floor I will order more if I don't have enough. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif

I've heard a pair of those subs in a hatchback with about 1000 RMS ported. They weren't bad at all. I think you'll be happy.

Do you have the deadening available?? If you've got it -- use it. I've heard tales of deadening reducing SPL, but for SQ, I can only see it helping.

I have 100sq ft of B-quiet ultimate. I am going to sound deaden my doors and trunk for sure but do not know if I will have enough for the trunk. What does SPL mean?

Thanks
