i just replaced my alternator this afternoon in my 98 s-10, and i started workin on my crimping wires together on the harness after i got back in the house, and i double checked to make sure the wires were matched up to the best of my knowledge, and everything else was fine, checked the fuse and it was intact, i was sick of foolin with the truck since i had to go thru my rightfront fenderwell to get to it, ended up takin me 4 hours in the **** cold by myself, so once the cd player didn't work on the first try i gave up for the night, i'm thinkin i'll just get a harness from crutchfield since i didn't order one thru them, and just see about that, if that can be done...i ended up leavin a few wires unconnected, thats the only other logical problem i could be havin...best i can tell i didn't need them though...they were the memory backup lead, big yellow one, and and the auto antenna lead, which i have a constant antenna, if thats what you wanna call it, it isn't power...and i left the phone mute lead wire unhooked also....cuz i'm not that hightech.....would any of this lead to the headunit not even powering up? any other suggestions? thanks guys, gonna maybe start on a new slate in the mornin, or after class tommorow afternoon

backup memory? i thought that was just a lil extra, optional piece, as opposed to normal memory??? lol **** shows what i know...so how would i go about hookin this straight to the battery? i'm pretty much a stereo amateur newb if you couldn't tell lol...

ok upon further inspection in the daylight, i see now that there is a orange and white wire comin from the stock harness, and it showed on installdoctor.com? i think it was, was lookin really quick before class this mornin, and it said a orange wire had somethin to do with the battery....and then the only wire i had that could lead to the problems was the memory backup lead....so does the yellow memory backup wire to the orange and white stock harness wire? i know i'm askin the same stuff over and over seems like....lol, and i'm too cheap to even buy a harness, but if this is the only problem with the harness i have...then theres no sense in buyin a harness, ya know....thanks guys

HELLPPPP

I'm currently trying to install this unit and Right now im hooking up both yellow and the red to the power and then black to the ground, all i is the unit ejecting, but nothing else on the display will power up. Any help is greatly appreciated???

Thank you

Heres what i think, please fill in the gaps.

* Thick Yellow - Memory

* Thin Yellow - ?

* Red wire - Power ?

* Black - Ground

* Orange w/ white - Dimmer

* Brown - ?

* Blue - Antena

* Blue w/ white - Remote

The rest are speaker wires

Any help is greatly appreciated.

thick yellow- connect to battery with 15a fuse

thin yellow - connect to battery with 3a fuse

red is the power lead

brown is the phone mute lead

I have connected thick yellow+ Think yellow+Red all together and all i get is the cd player ejecting and then nothing else, now power or anything. I've tried reseting it, but still nothing... any suggestions?

Thanks for the helps

Might be a bad ground?

Take the HU in front of the battery. touch the thick yellow & red wires to the positive post & the black one to the negative post? Same result?

Do you have a CD in the drive? I recently had to fix mine cause CD's wouldn't eject...kept clicking on attempts to eject; turned out to be a cracked piece of plastic near the gears; super-glued it back & it works again.

The "bus power lead" (the 3amp-fused yellow wire) is only needed if you use the CeNet port. Otherwise CeNet stuff won't work.
