Dear Expert,
I installed the head unit myself few days ago. I am replacing original/factory Becker head Unit with Clarion DXZ845MC. System uses no external Amp or other external stuff (so just head unit and speakers). Everything (almost) seems fine except:
1. CD plays but no sound coming out of speakers. Dead silent.
2. It rips CD fine (I think), but again, no sound when I play it back. Dead silent.
3. Radio works, but there’s constant audible noise even at zero volume or mute. There’s no noise in CD/MP3 function. I am just wondering if this is normal for Clarion head unit.
I called Clarion, they suspected mis-wiring. Here’s how I wired the unit: (Left Column is Signal name I got from Original Becker Head Unit manual; on the right is Clarion’s)
1. Speed Dependent Vol Control -> No Connect
2. Phone Mute -> Phone mute lead (brown wire)
3. Constant 12V -> Memory back-up lead (15A) and Bus power lead (3A) both yellow wires.
4. Ant Trig (12V when radio on) -> Auto antenna lead (Blue wire)
5. Illumination -> Illumination lead (orange/white wire)
6. Ignition -> Power lead (Red wire) no fuse attached to it.
7. Ground -> Ground lead (Black wire)
And then there’s “Amplifier turn-on lead†(blue/white wire) that is left disconnected. Antenna wire is connected using VW female to Motorola male adapter. I believe I connect the speaker connections correctly.
I am wondering if I should make extra ground connection to ground the unit chassis to reduce this radio noise.
Please help. Any comment/advice is truly appreciated.
Thanks!!
