I decided to break down and carefully set my gains in my system this morning , just to find I could NOT hear my 9255 distort at ANY volume level !! I've never seen this before , except with my 25th Anniversary Alpine 7909 ..... Seems as if Clarion designed this unit to be able to use ALL of the head unit's volume control , without clipping ..... Have YOU also experienced this ?

That doesn't seem out of the ordinary at all, I would think that would be the expectation when dealing with Clarion's flagship headunit. Very nice piece I might add, but why no detachable face...? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

not everyone detaches face...

I think if anyone is gonna spend that kind of money on a head, they'll take the extra time to detach the face when they leave the vehicle, I know I do. That's a big reason for me not to buy one.

Another is all those LONG RCA's you gotta run back to your amps. I'd rather have my processor back by the amps like I do now and feed one digital line back to it and then split it all off from there.

That is ranked as one of the best HUs EVER. It was designed w/o cost being a factor. Pure SQ it what that HU is all about. Clarions other Pro Audio HU wont distort at full volume either. I've had 3 of their top O' the line HUs. Back in the day w/the 6770 than the DRX9175L

non clipping preouts are soooooo 90's....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

wouldn't expect anything less, nice deck...

omg you 7909 is a huge alpine classic... how does the 9255 compare to it in terms os SQ?
Very similiar honestly .... But the 7909 still sounds a little better. If the 7909 had all of the adjustability of the Clarion ..... It would be the F1 LOL:laugh:
