Choices for 8”

I’m currently considering the option of installing two 8” subs: one under the passenger seat and one under the driver’s. Because of the limited space, mounting depth is a problem. The smaller the mounting depth, the easier it will be for me to fit the subs. So I’d like to keep them as shallow as possible. Here are the subs I’m looking at, with the mounting depth for each listed.

e8a.44 – 5.04”

RE8 – 4”

ID8 V2 – 3.875”

They will be placed in a sealed enclosure of about 0.2-0.3” cubic feet in volume. I’m looking for the best possible SQ. Because of the mounting depth consideration (and price, for that matter), I’m looking mainly at the RE8 and ID8 V2. I’d like to know how these three subs should perform, in terms of SQ, in the environment I’ve described.

Since it would be going under the seats, I don’t really have enough room to port it. The enclosure sizes, once I build them, will probably be closer to the 0.2 cubic feet estimate.

Hi guys, I'm here to completely spam the heck out of this site. You ask what is the best, and I just happen to supply a link to the online car audio site I own that is well overpriced and not authorized for many of the brands. I try and place these links so I don't get caught. Well, you got caught. Nice try, but it won't get by me.

That tiny sub ownz so much its not even a competition. by Far the best SQ i've ever heard from such a small sub. I built the spec box for a friend 0.25 cf sealed. with his 550.3 kicker amp giving it 400w rms it sounds absoultely insane. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/scared.gif.f134e57c6c93ccd0f15aa5ac32c7d4a0.gif :thumbsup

Ooh, Diamonds. I know that they’re a well regarded brand, even though these are their bottom-of-the-line subs. Thanks for the recommendation; now I have another one to think about. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Looking around, I haven’t found any reviews for this model. If anyone has an opinion or a review that I missed, please share it.

8" L7's are pretty shallow, and put out decent sound.

Unfortunately, it looks like their minimum sealed recommendation is a little higher than I might be able to provide (0.33 cubic feet). The mounting depth is about 5”, so it’s in the same range as the ED, which will probably turn out a bit too large.

Out of curiosity, what type of vehichle is this going in?
