Check this out.. on egay

You didn't read what I said close enough. Im sure it doesn't fall on its face, that was my point.
Have you run the sub sealed yet? You would likely notice an improvement. You should anyway, but hearing is subjective and what is perceived as 'better' the same is 99% opinion based. The specs indicate your sub will do okay ported. Not fall on its face, but not shine like the design was intended to do. You really do that sub injustice imo if you own a UL series and run it ported. But its your sub, your system, and your sound preference. Im just letting you know what enclosure type the specs indicate the sub prefers.

Glad to provide info. Hope you find it useful.
if i get this car im looking at im going to run my last one sealed with about 1400-1500 to it

ah, i see. but are we talking "better" as in cleaner, more quality; or "better" as in physically louder?

i am comprhending this, but i still don't know wtf is up. thanks for shedding light.

No, ported will be louder, but the sub will perform better in the sealed enclosure.

Think of it this way, you know alot of subs that people say they went from sealed to ported and it got louder, but the SQ stayed the same? The specs indicate if you did this with a UL, you would not say the SQ was retained. But if you have not run it sealed yet, you cannot confirm this. And this is not *always* the case. I have heard personal reviews that confirmed the UL followed its EBP indications however, which is why I mentioned it.

Again, glad to help. Cheers.

Get a bigger amp if you can. IIRC the rms rating on the UL is 2500 watts, and a lil headroom would be nice too.
That's the downside to these uber woofers guys, they want to be sealed and have a ton of power thrown at them. I imagine they work okay with less power, but then you wont be getting near the full potential of out the thing you paid alot of money to have outshadow other drivers, drivers that would likely work better with that smaller amount of power.

Hoffman's Iron Law confirms what I suspect about the driver: low efficiency to allow good low-end while utilizing a small sealed enclosure. If you want your UL's to work to their fullest, use this info accordingly.

hmm. well i didn't buy it as an "SQ" sub. i bought it because it was nice and cheap (IMO). i don't have any plans on running it sealed because i like the out put it has now. but i see what you're saying. i actually plan on adding another and running 2 (type x, not UL12) ported. so much for SQ then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
