I will be using 4 of them in the back of my Expedition. WinSid shows 155.4 litres and a tune of 26.71Hz for best response, -3db is at tuning. I will be using about 150 watts per driver right now, may upgrade to more power later, but probably never over 300 per driver. Outside width of the enclosure cannot excede 48 inches, can only be about 16 inches tall, which puts my depth around 16 inches, depending on port displacements and such. I plan on using 4 round ports, 1 per driver, in case I feel the need to alter the tuning. Will somebody else look this over and see if I am missing anything? SPL at this power shows 123 flat all the way down to 37Hz out of vehicle... anyone know the typical gain in an SUV with no other interior mods? Thanks for your time!

Yea box looks pretty good, you could even up the tuning to 30hz or so to keep the ports a little shorter if their length becomes a problem.

SUV's peak ~45-50hz with a gain of ~12-20db at that peak.

Thanks, I think I have room for the ports. I would have guessed that gain would start around 60Hz or so and lift at 12db per octave below that... so 30Hz would gain me around 12db, not including losses for the vehicle flexing at higher SPL levels. I guess a good goal would be around 140db at a decently low frequency?

You'll probably peak at ~140 (at whatever frequency that happens to be) and slope down from there as you decrease frequency, but yea output at 30hz should be pretty good.

I decided to go with more power, bought a Cadence ZRS10, which is 2500 watts into 1 ohm mono. The drivers are rated at 300 Pe, but from the looks of it will not have excursion problems in this box until around 25Hz even at 625 per driver. Am I missing anything here? As long as I listen for distortion, and don't just hammer them with constant bass tones, how does it look to perform?

with 4 standard size ports it shows 112ft/second.... guess I should up the port size? Length of ports is already 34 inches, going with more port area may cause problems...

it shouldn't be higher then 54 feet per second rms to keep port noise down.

also make sure you have input the right system power "total power" under the signal source window, so it can calculate the proper air velocity for you. so 1200wrms.

Total power is 2500rms, this is where I get to my higher port velocity. This is calculated with four 4 inch ports around 34 inches long. It is hard enough to squeeze those in, I am not sure I can go any larger...

I can't get it below 112ft/s within reasonable means... even that is with one 4 inch port per driver, and these are not massive drivers. And that is funny, because that is already much more port area than most of the old school boxes I remember having...
