think about this, if you tell her and she accepts you back. and let's say a few months later she tell you she cheats on you, you can't leave her b/c you are now obiligated to stay. If she finds out than deal with it, if not just live like it never happened.

I've never cheated on any girl I've ever dated and I'm actually very proud of myself for that.

Looking back, there are a couple opportunities I wish I would have taken advantage of but I'm in the end I know I made the right decisions.

I'd say you have very limited experience. Most guys confess to their SO's to relieve their own guilt, not to be honest.

You argued earlier that the girl would be hurt and it would cause trouble later down the line. She would have that huge burn of having someone she loves hurting her and feeling she's not good enough. I highly doubt tacking on "and lying about it" would be any better.

She has every right to know, regardless of why the OP tells her. I just think it's ridiculous that the OP thinks she won't find out. If the other ***** respects his relationship with the other girl so much, and won't talk because of it...she wouldn't have cheated. Same goes for him, but that's another rant.

She obviously doesn't care about the relationship and I HIGHLY doubt she has kept completely quiet. And I will reiterate, this entire story is on a public forum. He'd be hard pressed to lie about this unlike half the other stuff he's kept from the girl he "truly loves".
