Cheap "deal" package from local store or DIY with the same budget?

I have a 1999 Honda CRV that I don't want to put a whole lot of money into, so I would like to do this for as little as possible without getting junk. I only listen to punk and metal to give you an idea of sound emphasis I am looking for. It would be more than appreciated if you could suggest some things for me.

1. CD/MP3 head unit with MP3 player connection, don't need Sirus/XM/etc.

2. Replacement door speakers (6.5" round) and should I get 2/3 way?

3. Should I get tweeters, if so which?

4. What amp to power all this?

To relate to my post title should I buy these parts from crutchfield and probably pay more for better or go with a "deal" package from a local store. Ideally this post would help me make that decision.

exactly what i have!

sounds good and pretty cheap.

you can also get the amp/speakers much cheaper from other online retailers, but crutch field has a very good warranty.

i'd get the head unit from crutchfield because they include the adapters/wiring.

EDIT:

that HU also needs an ipod adapter (which i got) or rca input adapter (i think) if you wanted to use a different mp3 player.

here's the speakers/amp for cheaper:

$200 will not get you much. If you want some sort of upgrade now I'd suggest putting the entire 200 dollars into a decent headunit - at least then you can get your MP3 capability. Any $200 package including a radio and speakers installed will be complete junk.

word......

ya simple install stuff like this are no brainers, spend ur money on better shit instead of letting these ****s touch ur car. itll be worth it

Haha welcome. . . you start out small but in 3-4 years u'll be blowing 500 on just front component speakers. . you'll see
You are so freaking right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

BUT... I like to bargain shop with everything except the HU. I suggest ALWAYS buying the HU through an authorized dealer. Amps USUALLy aren't broken upon arrival, and if they are, there is usually some sort of 30-day return policy with online stores.

I'll be dishing out roughly 600 for my replacement speaker amp (Kicker SX-900.4) . Talk about ouch, but I'll have this amp for my next 2 cars if I can help it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
