Usually those search services end up being more expensive because you pay them fees in addition to the airline's fees.

A better bet is to buy directly from the airlines.

Southwest.com tends to be pretty cheap.

those site, expedia or whatever... are all BS. you dont get that much of a better deal if you go to thier site for the airlines.
