Chaos in mobile

Everyone knows about hurricane Katrina and the damage it has done. In the part of mobile I live in we did have some flooding in the downtown area... Really though the damage was minimal compared to LA and MS but people are going crazy. I heard on the radio today that 100,000 people still don't have power here and it’s making people short tempered. There is a gas shortage here which there is a minimal 1 hour wait for gas. To make matters worse people are fighting over gas and cops are at every gas station now and have only one entrance open and its for gas only if you want to get something inside the store you have to park and get it because the workers at the pump get your money and pump your gas. Also the tankers that are bringing in the gas are escorted by cops. There is people that are going as far as stealing gas at night from other peoples cars which is just sad in my opinion. Gas is like gold right now and people will do anything to get it. Another problem is that since most of the street lights still don't work there is a lot of close call wrecks and we have been having an 8pm curfew where stores have been closing at 5pm that’s including Wal-Mart.

I went to Wal-Mart two days ago and there was a mob of people outside the store right at 5pm and was locked out and were pissed off. The grocery stores are low on milk, ice, bread, snacks and the price of meat has gone up because it’s also scarce... I just can’t' believe that people in mobile are acting like animals and we didn't have near the destruction as other places. Granted we did have some stores destroyed, flooding, loss of power but we should be thankful instead of hateful right now. This storm has only brought out the worst in people but also the best but that’s life I guess.
