my siren is not loud enough, book says it is 6db lower than it can be, and i dang near have to break the window to get the warning chirp.

by the way best buy did the install and i am not happy with it at all, steering wheel no longer locks in place when the key isnt turned. and the steering wheel position doesnt go all the way down without moving the steering wheel shroud before pushing it down.

Take it back. If you don't trust the store that worked on it try a different location. There's no way you should accept it with the problems you listed.

The -6dB setting is just for the lock/unlock chirps. When the alarm goes off it's at maximum volume, and there's no setting to make it louder. If you want the chirps to be louder you just have to cut the wire loop attached to the siren.
