anybody have any experience with these speakers in particular? or any CDTs for that matter...

I was not impressed.
care to recommend me a decent pair of 6.5'' 2-way components for around the same price, preferably with a silk dome because i'm not looking for harsh highs.

this will be my first set of components, so i don't really know where i'm going...

 
Those FG's are awesome sounding comps IMO, the firgerglass mids are very detailed and natural sounding and offer a great midbass. i am using the lower CL series and even those sound great.

I was about to order the exact same set of CDT's... I ended up going with the Pioneer Premiers for the same $$ and I'm so happy I did.

They sound wonderful, great midbass that is really clean even when pushed. I love really "warm' sounding tweeters and these sound great, off axis they sound really good never harsh.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
