CDA-9887 vrs. DEH-P9800BT

I think a better comparison would be CDA-9887 vs. DEH-880PRS
Not really... The 980 bt is almost as capable deck as the 880. In reguards to the 9887, it hasnt been out long enough to make justifiable comparisons. Spec wise both the 880, and 980 seem better, by a bit.. We will see though..

I was in this dilemma and chose the 9887 just because of the fuse problem with the pioneers. I have experienced it first hand and HATE it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

No. L/R eq is worth its weight in gold. The 880 wins hands down.

Yea the 9887 does have L/R adjustments as stated, you just have to read the manual throughly to know that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I almost got the 9887, and kind of regret not getting it now. I opted for the 4900iB since it was about $150 cheaper, but man the SQ just isn't there compared to my 880 (which was stolen).

The pioneer I had before the 880 had bad RCA grounds and was such a nightmare, but I still go back to Pioneer everytime. So far only two of four units have had problems, but the first deck didn't break until about 2 years later, so it probably shouldn't count.

I've owned the Premier P980BT (Pretty much the same deck as the 9800) and just sold my 880PRS on ebay, and am in the process or ordering the 9887! lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I will keep you posted on my findings. I was super happy with the 980BT, but not as much, surprisingly with the 880, even though it is supposed to have a bit more SQ functionality. The TA seemed to work better on the 980- maybe because it was in a different vehicle than my 880 but I could never seem to get the TA right with the 880. Both had pretty great SQ though overall. I had an Alpine 7998 and 9815 and was super happy with the SQ so I am going back to Alpine to check out the new deck.

I've owned both and the Alpine 9887 wins. If you ever owned a 9835 you would know this is the way to go. Finally alpine made a HU that was compatible to the older 9835. The 9887 is incredible. Had the Pioneer but ran into the whinning noise with it because of the poor grounds they have. I vote the alpine hands down for the win.

Definately keep us informed of how that goes.
