CD Skipping...

ok...To give you a heads up on what equipment I have so you know the scoop...I am running a Panasonic CQ-C8403U Head Unit that I like very much...nice features...nice look...5v Pre-amp outputs...etc...but right now....I am only running a Pioneer 760 Watt 2 Channel Wal Mart Amp with 2 400 Watt RMS Audiobahn 12's in a Sealed Box (bought all off my friend for 100 bucks)...and every once in awhile when the bass hits my CD will skip....I would like this problem to be gone before I set up my 2 L7's and my Orion 2500D...I have put in brand new CD's that are just burned and still the same problem...I tried switching CD brands...and that helped the problem out alot suprisingly...but I am still getting it when I know I should not...I don't think it is a problem within the Player itself....some dude I worked with hooked it up...and I don't know if he hooked it up wrong...or left somethin' loose...or some wires are vibrating up against my HU or what...I don't want HIM to look at it because he ****ed a little bit of my Dashboard up installing it...so thats why I think it's hooked up wrong...but would that still create my problem? the Only thing I HAVEN'T tried is slowing the Burn speed down when I burn my CDs...maybe I am overburning at 48x....I don't know...I hope I don't have to ship back to Sonicelectronix for a warranty issue....anybody got any ideas?

yea there is absolutely no packing around that sucker...he just threw it in the cage hooked all the wires up and stuffed it in there....it's ok...because when my set up gets done it will be 3808945086 louder then his //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.......thanks for the tip...

try mounting some foam or vibration material around it. maybe the lens needs to be cleaned.

Dude, not a good idea at all. This will cause failure of the cd player as it will cook itself to death. A cd player needs to breathe. Skipping can be a dirty lens, a laser assembly out of alignment, a resonant frequency issue, bad power or ground on the headunit, poorly burned source materials, improper mounting, lots of things to consider but at no point in time should you ever wrap up a cd player to secure it better. If you meant to apply some damping materials around the mounting area, that I can see but you always must allow the cd player to get rid of the heat it generates.

i never said wrap it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif he said something about a poor install so i figured it could be vibrating somehow

I think its the panasonics, b.c I have one right now and it does the same thing.

what model do you have....I have never heard of a Panasonic doing this before...and if it does it now...I know it will when I get my other system put in....and little stuff annoys me really bad I won't be able to handle it...

yea mine is the Color screen one too...High Def. OEL... CQ-C8403U...the dude who installed it has a 2005 model of the one I have but it isn't a color screen and he has no problems and his system is alot louder then mine is right now...
